Pre-2012 Checklist

Many salon owners take a mental break during the holidays, comforted by the thought that for at least the next eight weeks, their checkbooks will be fat and happy. I challenge you to look beyond December 31st and peep into what lurks in the shadows. JANUARY is arguably the slowest month of the calendar year, industry-wide. If you start buffering against January’s slower business TODAY, there’s a chance may avoid any financial pinch!

Here are a few things to encourage a good start to 2012:

  1. Launch an aggressive pre-booking campaign. Offer 10% discount on hair services for clients that prebook.
  2. Update your guest files. Make sure those holiday eblasts reach the intended audience!
  3. Look for interesting local charitable events during the first quarter of 2012. Use the slow months to give back to the community, whether it’s a charity fashion show or a business expo. Promote your business and score some face-time.
  4. See past blog: “Adopt A Billboard."  It's an awesome time to recruit one or two, at least for the duration of the holidays. It can exponentially increase your November and December guest count.

Remember: thinking ahead gets you ahead! Be proactive, start TODAY, and prevent your salon from falling victim to a  typical slow January!

All the best!
